Getting to know your product!

Learning what your product can be used for, how it can be used, and how it can help others will be quite useful for every part of your marketing journey ESPECIALLY when you're creating your first buyer personas.

Ask yourself: What kind of people or groups of people need it the most?

As you may know: Not everything is for everyone. Narrow down your target audience to the people or groups of people who you consider would be benefited the most from your product. Who do you think needs it the most? Why do they need it? Would they be able to afford it? Would they have access to purchasing my product?

Research, research, and more research!

Once you have your demographics narrowed down and a clear picture of your ideal customer, it's time to turn that picture into a fully fleshed-out person! Do all the research you can on them. Their likes, dislikes, socio-economic status, if they have kids, why they do or don't, what they normally lack, why they're lacking, what they need the most, why they need it, etc...

A quick tip is to always follow a "What" question with a "Why" question. The answers will never fail to give you more insight into your audience.

Here Come the Clones!

Once you have collected all the information needed, don’t create just one Buyer’s Persona. Clone them and tweak some details to turn them into unique individuals with different socio-economic backgrounds, genders, needs, etc… And check how your product and sales pitch would work on each of them! You’d be surprised about what you can learn from all these different personas.

Happy marketing!
